We were in a meeting yesterday with a client when someone asked about the differences between qualitative and quantitative research. Randi Blumenthal-Guigui,Program Director at the Osborne Association offered this example.
In quantitative research you count the number of cars that go through the car wash, and maybe use some kind of a scale to determine how clean they are when they come out. In qualitative research, you actually go into the car wash to see what goes on as the car is getting sprayed and scrubbed and dried.
We like this example and wanted to share is with readers. Thanks Randi.
